Police Arrest Man For Several Store & Bank Robberies

Police say a man suspected of pulling off a series of robberies in Buffalo, Cheektowaga, Lackawanna, Amherst and West Seneca has been arrested.

The alleged robber was arrested after a traffic stop on William St. in Cheektowaga this morning.

Authorities say the suspect robbed two banks and three convenience stores over a 3-day period, and investigators say the store robberies included the theft of cigarettes and beer.

Police say the suspect's image was captured by a bank surveillance camera and they've been able to identify him. Brian Stauffer, 36, is said to have confessed to the robberies. Police say Stauffer had been living in a halfway house recently after serving time on a previous robbery charge.

Stauffer is being held at the Erie County Holding Center following his arraignment.
